Sam Darnold: Big Month Keeps Going!!
The 6-foot-4, 208-pound Darnold was one of four quarterbacks selected to compete in the national Elite 11 Competition held this month at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
“It was unexpected coming in because I missed all of last year,” Darnold said.
“I was working hard all the time in the off season after I got hurt, just working on upper body strength because I couldn’t go lower with my foot. I just got in a rhythm at the end there and it carried me through this thing.”
It’s been a big month for Darnold on the recruiting trail as well. May brought offers from Northwestern, Wake Forest, Tennessee and Duke. June continued the trend with an offer from USC as well.
“Tennessee, Wake Forest, Northwestern, Utah, Nevada,” Darnold listed when asked what schools he talks to the most. Duke, Coach (David) Cutcliffe, that would be an amazing opportunity. That would be awesome. I’m really interested in Utah. All those schools.
“I got some visits coming up. Northwestern, Wake Forest, all the schools I named, I’m going to visit soon. As a quarterback they all want me to commit early.”
Darnold would like to be off the market soon himself.
“I want to try and make my decision at the end of June,” he said. “But if it takes me longer I will.”
