Biography
Coach Patton (128-61-2) has coached high school and community college since 1977 - twelve as an assistant, eight years as head coach at Capistrano Valley (53-28-1), two years as defensive coordinator at Saddleback College, and as head coach at San Clemente (75-33-2)since 1999. Coach Patton played high school football at Mater Dei High School from 1965-67. He played linebacker at Notre Dame 1969-71, and played in the 1972 Senior Bowl and Coaches' All-American Bowl. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round in 1972 and played for the Southern California Sun of the World Football League in 1974-75. Coach Patton majored in English Literature at Notre Dame (BA '72). He has a MS in Educational Computing from Pepperdine University and an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction from Argosy University. He teaches English and Reading at SCHS. Coach Patton is married to Peggy, and they have three children (Andrea, Scott, and Ward - married to Karen) and three grandchildren (Jared, Ava, and Abby).
